Our first in Biomaterials journal (link). We finally published in this journal, which we try for all out publications as it is a Q1 journal in the field of biomaterials. Our 3rd publication for the year! Efforts of co-first authors Dr. Sapudom and Ms. Alatoom converged and showed that alignment of fibrillar collagen hydrogels indeed suppresses T-cell responses. Perhaps telling us why T-cell based immunotherapies find the road to success in solid cancers difficult.
The alignment of collagen is based on a patented method and we previously showed it to also influence fibroblast phenotype, that paper was published in May 2023 by Sapudom and recently received over 5000 views as announced by Wiley, the publisher!
Evidently, including a recent study that showed immune suppression of macrophages with aligned collagen, the microarchitecture of tissues is crucial. #immunomechanobiology
